Soon I will be upgrading my kitchen but this is the one I am currently using. If anyone has any suggestions for new appliances just let me know.

Green Tea Gummy Hearts

After doing a bit of research and finding some possible recipes I collected my ingredients with the possibility of failure. I settled on a formula that was a mix of several I found on the interweb. It is as followed....
1 1/2 cups of Green Tea ( I brewed a jar of Meijer Brand Green Tea)
5 Packs of unflavored gelatin
about a Tablespoon of Honey
and last but not least Lemon Flavored Sugar.
I first Bloomed the gelatin in the tea (basically put all the gelatin in cooled tea and letting it sit for a few minutes) Then heated it up on low to medium heat and added the honey. Once everything was fully dissolved I spooned it into my little molds (which had the lemon sugar in the bottom) and put the whole concoction into the refrigerator for around 30 minutes. Some of my worries were that the gelatin "flavor" would overpower the flavors that I wanted or that the gummies would end up more a jelly consistency instead. All in all they turned out quite well. There consistency is similar to that of a store bought gummy and the flavor is more honey than anything else. The things I would change is I would use a matcha tea powder to get a better tea flavor in the finished product and maybe use lemon essence rather than the sugar because the sugar ended up not sticking to the top of the gummy as well as I had hope.

Let the journey begin!

At this point in my life I've found my comfort zone in the kitchen. I cook lots of eggs and pancakes and once in awhile venture into stews and soups. With this blog I will challenge myself to try new recipes and foods I normally wouldn't cook.
